Join Michelle and I as we fast for Ryan. This will be a 24 hour fast starting tomorrow morning at 7am and ending on Saturday morning at 7am. A spiritual fast involves abstaining from food while focusing on prayer. Fasting demonstrates a profound need for God's help and guidance through complete dependence on Him. The goal is that in your moments of weakness, you turn to God for strength and pray for little Ryan. Michelle came up with this idea this morning while spending time with God. Here is what she read:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:10-12 ESV)
What Michelle and I are thinking is that we want to put on the FULL armor of God. And one area that we have not put into practice is fasting. So we want to dedicate one day to fasting for Ryan and her complete healing as a way to fully depend on God for all our needs.
Jared and Michelle, we have guests coming, so we will have to do our fasting the following day, but we will be praying with you and for you tomorrow. Much love to you, Grandma
ReplyDeleteJared & Michelle, I was so amazed when I saw your post because I started a nutritive fast (I physically can't go without food but this doesn't allow anything but the most basic to survive) on Mon in the same heart for our baby girl as well as myself. This has all felt like a huge spiritual attack but I know our Lord is bigger than anything that can come against us & He HAS been accomplishing work in the kingdom through our sacrifice & suffering, praise be to His name! Just last night (on the 3rd day of my fast)we had some break through. They finally found out what is wrong with our Eliana-Whooping Cough so after all this with some Antibiotics she will be fine in a couple of weeks. We are praying with great compassion that this fast also finds you breakthrough and brings some permanent healing to your Baby Ryan!!
